Tigers Fall In Last Regular Season Match-up

Oberlin, OH- The ladies went on the road for their last regular season game against the Yeowomen of Oberlin College for the second time this season. After defeating the Yeowomen 48-35 earlier in the season, the Tigers were eager to add another win under their belts. After a tough battle, Wittenberg was unable to keep up with Oberlin and fell with a 71-54 score.

Game Breakdown: Delaney Williams put the first points on the board for Wittenberg after hitting a 3-pointer. Korynne Berner made two back-to-back shots to keep the Tigers even with the Yeowomen in the first quarter but the Yeowomen were able to stay ahead 19-16 to go into the second quarter with the lead. Berner continued to lead the Tigers in the second quarter with four points, but a tough Oberlin defense kept the Tigers to 11 points in the second quarter. The Tigers went into the half down with a score of 29-27.

Wittenberg was able to bounce back in the third quarter and put up sixteen points with Berner putting up five of the 16 points. The Tigers shot for 75% at the free throw line and 41.7% in field goals in the third quarter and picked up five steals but remained down 58-43. Delaney Williams led the Tigers in the fourth quarter with five points and helped bring the Tigers up to 54 points but it wasn't enough to take down the Yeowomen. The Tigers fell with a score of 71-54 but will be able to seek revenge in the post season.

Key Players: The Tigers were led by senior, Korynne Berner who put up 18 points and five rebounds. Riley Culver picked up six rebounds with an even three offensive and defensive rebounds.

Up Next: Tigers will continue their 2020 campaign into the post season as they host the first round of NCAC Championship play. The ladies will host on Tuesday, February 25th in a double header with the men's basketball team.
