SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Behind a shooting effort that saw their field goal percentage climb to nearly 50%, Wittenberg women's basketball clawed past Ohio Wesleyan 69-53 on Wednesday night. Wittenberg led by 13 at halftime as the Tigers utilized their clutch shooting to put up 40 first half points on the Battling Bishops. Michelle Brunswick, Alex Kiess and Sydney Mayle combined for 41 points in the victory, as Brunswick recorded a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. The Tigers now sit at 8-10 overall in 2016-17, and 4-5 in NCAC play.

• Wittenberg jumped out to an early 20-13 lead after Kiess splashed home a jumper at the end of the first quarter, as the Tigers would head into the second quarter leading 21-13.  
• OWU would climb back into the game at 23-20 early on in the second quarter before Erin Helge made a layup that stretched the lead back to five for the Tigers.
• Kiess has been money in the bank for Wittenberg from deep as of late, as the sophomore guard splashed in a long ball to put the Tigers up ten at 30-20 with just over six minutes remaining in the half.
• The Tigers found themselves up 40-27 at the break, but OWU clawed back and cut the Tiger lead to 52-47 at the end of the third quarter.
• Kiess and Brunswick took over on offense early on in the fourth, as the Tigers jumped back out to a 61-49 lead.
• Wittenberg found themselves on top at the final horn, 69-53, as Brunswick's double-double proved to be enough in pacing the Tigers on both ends of the floor.
