Tigers Take Top 10 Finishes At Wilmington Invitational

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers made their final tune-up for the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championship meet a successful one, picking up a third-place finish on the women's side and a 10th-place finish on the men's side at the Wilmington Invitational.

Running against a strong field that included numerous Division II and NAIA scholarship programs, Wittenberg's women accumulated 109 points to finish just 24 behind winner John Carroll and 18 back of second-place Otterbein.

Individually, the Tigers were paced by sophomore Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) in fifth place with a time of 19:03.96. Sophomore Anna Henry (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) was right behind in sixth place in a time of 19:06.51.

The rest of the Tigers' pack included freshman Biz Goodbarn (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Highlands Ranch), who placed 20th in a time of 20:00.00, freshman Amy Stamon (Louisville, Ky./Assumption), who placed 23rd in a time of 20:05.76 and sophomore Emma Crosby (Rockford, Mich./Rockford), who placed 55th in a time of 20:57.26.

On the men's side, the top finisher by a wide margin was junior Kevin Frick (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview), who placed 12th in a time of 26:16.18. Next up for the Tigers was sophomore Jarrett Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) in 43rd in a time of 27:17.85, followed by freshman Trevor Grandy (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) in 54th in 27:41.15, freshman Adam Markins (Chillicothe, Ohio/Union Scioto) in 63rd in 27:58.97 and junior Daniel Whonsetler (Prospect, Ky./Sacred Heart) in 68th in 28:06.01.
