Tiger Teams Run Well At All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers turned in a respectable 14th place finish among a loaded men's NCAA Division III field at the All-Ohio Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. The Tiger women ran as individuals in the open division race.

The Tiger men missed the presence of junior Mike Echols (Springfield, Ohio/North), normally one of their top two runners. Without him, however, Wittenberg still finished a very respectable 14th among 21 teams. Sophomore Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North) led with a 49th place finish. He was one of the three Wittenberg runners to cover the eight-kilometer course in less than 30 minutes. Sophomore Ben McCombs (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and junior Mike Wismer (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon) were both in the top 90 in a field of 137.

The Tiger women were paced by senior Sarah Yehle (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette), who placed 63rd in a time of 21:56 in the open division race. Sophomore Abby McCutcheon (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) and junior Megan Poling (Medina, Ohio/Highland) were both in the top 100 in a field of nearly 200 runners.
