SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg sophomore Michael Yurk (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) was named the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Offensive Player of the Week for Week 10, spanning March 11-17.

This marks the second such honor for Yurk this season, joining the one he earned on Jan. 16 for Week 1, and the third of his career.

The latest recognition comes after Yurk led the Tigers in kills in a 3-0 win over Mount Union and a 3-1 victory over Baldwin Wallace last week to claim the outright lead in the MCVL standings. The Tigers are currently 4-0 in conference play, holding a half-game lead over second-place Trine and a one-game lead over third-place Mount Union and Baldwin Wallace.

Against Mount Union, Yurk tallied 15 kills and a .700 hitting percentage with just one error on 20 total attacks. He added 16 kills with a .419 hitting percentage against Baldwin Wallace.

He also combined for five service aces and 11 digs in those two games.

Yurk has 252 kills this season and 445 career kills. He currently ranks sixth in program history in career kills and seventh all-time in single-season kills.

The Tigers (12-8 overall) return to action on Friday at MCVL foe Adrian at 7 p.m.
