Tigers Defeat Griffins in Conference Play

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg was back in action this weekend, taking on the Griffins of Fontbonne in the Tigers second conference match of the year. Wittenberg was able to pick up their second conference win of the season after sweeping the Griffins in three sets going 25-18 in set one, 25-20 in set two and 25-18 in the final set.

Wittenberg was led by Michael Yurk with 16 kills and 16.5 points which puts the freshmen in the record book as a single match leader in kills. Just behind Yurk was Eli Halverson with nine kills and ten points. Andrew Diaz de Padilla led in assists with 31 and five digs to also land his name in the record book under single match leaders in assists. The Tigers had an overall kill percentage of .288 with their most successful kill percentage coming in set one (.440).

Wittenberg, now 2-0 in conference play sits tied with Mount Union at the top of the MCVL rankings. Leading in MCVL statistics is senior Dominic Melchiorre at number five for hitting percentage. Wittenberg now stands at 13-8 on the season, going 10-4 at home.
