Tigers Split Day Two First Road Trip Of 2023

Naperville, IL – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Volleyball team split the final day of their first road weekend of the 2023 season. The Tigers dropped their first match of their doubleheader, falling to North Central 3-0 (12-25, 22-25, 18-25). Wittenberg bounced back in their second match of the afternoon, taking down Illinois Tech, 3-1 (23-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19)

Dominic Melchiorre led the Tiger attack in the first match of the afternoon, putting down seven kills on 10 attacks with on error. Melchiorre finished with a team-high .600 hitting-percentage in the match. He would come back in the second match of the day, adding five more kills to his total, getting in on three blocks and adding one dig.

Michael Yurk opened the day with a .286 hitting clip, putting down five kills. Yurk closed out the afternoon, leading the Tiger attack with 12 kills in the win over Ill. Tech.

Andrew Diaz de Padilla tallied 11 of 25 and 31 of 39 assists, facilitating the Tiger offense throughout the afternoon. Diaz de Padilla added five digs and two service aces on the afternoon.

UP NEXT

Wittenberg will return to action on Friday, January 27, returning home to Pam Evans Smith Arena to host Aurora University. First serve is set for 6:00 pm.
