Tigers Split the Weekend in Wisconsin

Fond du Lac, WI -- The Wittenberg Men's Volleyball team traveled to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to play a double header against the Rockford Regents and the Marian Sabres. In their first away match, the Red and White swept the Regents in three matches, going 25-17, 25-18, and 25-15. Tigers totaled 29 kills with 81 attempts and 36 digs defensively lead by junior Dominic Melchiorre with 10 digs. Junior Chris Goertz brought in 9 total kills with support from five other players. Grad transfer Aaron Giorgi carried the middle with 23 of the 25 total assists while adding 4 kills to the tally. Wittenberg outplayed the Regents with eight block assists and five serving aces with a kill percentage of .222. 

The Tigers fell to the Marian Sabres in three sets, 13-25, 18-25, and 24-26 with damage coming from their serving errors. However, Wittenberg stayed competitive throughout the match, attempting 97 total kills compared to the Sabres' 78 atempted kills. The Red and White played on the offensive and were successful on 29 kills with nine coming from senior Russ Burke and nine from Goertz adding to the kill percentage of .113. The Tigers tallied 28 assists and 29 digs with Giorgi leading in both, 23 assists and 12 digs. 

The Red and White will be heading out to Latrobe, Pennsylvania where they will be taking on the St. Vincent Bearcats January, 22, at 11:30 am and then again at 2:00 pm. St. Vincent is NOT allowing spectators at their events.
