Tigers Wrap Up 2021 Season At Trine

Angola, IN – The Wittenberg University men's volleyball team wrapped up their 2021 campaign with a trip to Trine University. The Tigers fell to the Thunder in both matches on the afternoon, 3-0 [25-23, 25-17, 25-18] in the first match and 3-0 [25-21, 25-22, 25-17] in the second match. The Tigers battled through the second match holding the Thunder under a .200 hitting percentage through the first two sets. The Red and White were unable to get their offense going in the second half of the day

Match Breakdown

The Tigers put together their best offensive set in the opening of the first match, logging a .312 hitting percentage with 14 kills on 32 total attacks. The Tigers were led by Russ Burke, tallying seven kills in the first match with four digs. Burke added six kills and eight digs with a block assist in the second match of the day against the Thunder. Dominic Melchiorre tallied six kills on 18 swings with just one error for a .278 kill percentage in the opening match for the Red and White. Melchiorre added a team-high 10 kills on 18 swings in the second match. Aidan Hauter tallied 17 assists in the second match, contributing on three blocks for the Tigers.
