Wittenberg Falls in Double Header

Springfield, OH- The Tigers were back on their home court for another conference match-up with the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace. This was the first time the two saw each other in competition for a double header.

The Yellow Jackets took Wittenberg into a four-set match in their first game of the day with the Tigers taking the third set to keep them alive. Wittenberg was led by senior Russ Burke who had eleven kills and eight digs, followed by freshman, Chris Goertz with seven kills. Cameron Menini kept the Tigers in play with 12 digs in the first match of the day but Wittenberg was not able to hang on after their third set win. The Red and White fell in the first match with a 3-1 score.

Wittenberg came back with energy for their second match of the day taking the first two sets (25-15,25-22). The Yellow Jackets came back in the second and third set to take the match to five. The fifth set was a close back-and-forth battle between the Tigers and Yellow Jackets but Wittenberg was unable to come out on top and dropped the last set 15-13. The Yellow Jackets took the final match with a 3-2 score.

Russ Burke continued to lead the Tigers in kills, adding 17 to his total on the day and eight digs. Cameron Menini was also able to add to his total digs with 12 more in the second match to lead Wittenberg.
