Tigers Fall At No. 6 Carthage

Kenosha, WI - The Wittenberg University men's volleyball team made their way north to take on the AVCA No. 6 Carthage College Red Men. Wittenberg fell to their former MCVL foe 3-0 [25-15, 25-18, 25-17]. Wittenberg was led by Dominic Melchiorre, tallying five kills on the night on 10 total attack attempts, adding a block and an ace. Noah Wissel tallied three kills, leading the Tiger's in attacking percentage with a .375 clip, adding 16 assists and two digs.

Match Breakdown

The Tigers fell behind early in the first set, as Wittenberg was forced to use a timeout after Carthage took an 8-2 advantage through the early going of the opening set. The Tigers battled back, bringing the match to 20-14. Wittenberg tallied a .148 hitting percentage in the first set, dropping the first set to the home side 25-15. The two sides continued their battle into the second set, as the Tigers fought back late in the set before the Red Men pulled away sealing the 25-18 win. Wittenberg held Carthage to just a .043 hitting percentage in the second set, as the Tiger offense was unable to get any momentum rolling in their favor. Wittenberg was unable to overcome the Carthage advantage in the third set, as the Red Men took the match with a final set score of 25-17.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 25 for two matches from Lakeland College. Starting at 11:00 AM. They start the day with Marian (Wis.) and close out the afternoon against host Lakeland.
