Urbana, OH- The Wittenberg Tigers travelled to Urbana to open their 2020 season in a five set match against the Blue Knights. The Tigers took the first and second set and came back in the fifth to win the match-up 3-2.
Wittenberg led in kills for the first set, getting 14 on Urbana and a kill percentage of 32.1%. The Tigers defeated the Blue Knights 25-22 to take momentum into the second set. The second set would be the least amount of kills the Tigers would have on the night with six but were still able to take the second set with a 25-20 score. Urbana was able to catch up and take the next to sets with scores of 25-18 for the third and fourth set. Wittenberg was able to come back in the fifth set with a 15-11 score to take down the Blue Knights.
The Tigers ended the night with a total of 49 kills, a 22.9% hitting percentage, 62 points, 44 assists, 5 aces, and 8 blocks.
Key Players: Wittenberg was led by Jackson Tyler in kills with 14 of the Tigers 49 kills. Russell Burke picked up 2 aces, James Trowbridge had 4 blocks, Noah Wissel had 41 of the 44 assists for Wittenberg and Fred Halper picked up 13 digs for the night.
