Week Five

  1. SG: Your team took a long trip to Wisconsin to play this weekend. How did you guys stay entertained on the ride?

The combination of listening to music, sleeping, and watching movies allowed us to stay entertained.  In fact, we watched the entire Batman Dark Knight trilogy on the ride.

  1. SG: I'm sure you guys took your friendship to a whole new level, being on a bus together for hours on end. What was the best part of the trip?

The best part of the trip was the camaraderie we built during the long drive.  Being trapped on a bus for hours on end allowed us to get closer together as a team.  Justin Luby's attempts to rap were also quite memorable.

  1. SG: Traveling to Wisconsin to play is definitely a different experience from suiting up to play at home. How did you adjust your preparation so you were ready to play after such a long trip?

This was our first road trip so it was a test for us.  We underestimated the impact our home fans had in all of our previous matches and failed to bring our own energy to the match.  Additionally, we failed to adapt to the new environment we played in.  But we are using this past weekend as a learning experience.

  1. SG:While you may not have won this weekend, you still gained valuable experience against other MCVL teams. What did you learn from your matches this weekend?

I think the biggest thing we learned was that mental preparation can impact a game just as much as physical preparations.  We can blame our lack of focus on it being our first away game or the long drive but when it came time to play, we failed to execute.

  1. SG: This weekend, you will be back at home against Dominican and Benedictine, both MVCL teams. What is your focus, going into these matches?

Our focus this week definitely has been on being resilient and learning from our poor performance this past weekend.  We have been preparing hard all week for the two tough teams we will face this upcoming weekend.  We especially are trying to bring energy and focus to every practice to make it as game like as possible.
