Off the Court Pt. 3

SG: Last weekend, you played in your first official tournament as a team, and came out victorious. What was that experience like?

MB: It was a great experience to be a part of the first ever win in Wittenberg Men's Volleyball history.  The team came together at crucial moments that allowed us to win.  We greatly appreciated everyone that came to support us and hope we can carry this momentum into this weekend.

SG: What was the highlight of the tournament for you?

MB:The best part of the tournament was the ability for us to try out different lineups in each match.  Everyone has been preparing hard at practices so it was great to see so many different people get playing time.  Also, the free t-shirts at the end were icing on the cake.

SG: This weekend, you will compete in the Jim Coleman Memorial Tournament, playing at home for the second week in a row. What are you most looking forward to about the tournament this weekend?

MB: I am most looking forward to the new level of competition.  We will be playing three tough teams (one of which is currently in the top 10) and I am looking forward to the challenge.  This weekend will help us prepare for the high level of competition we will face throughout the rest of the season.

SG: How do you mentally prepare for a game? Do you have any good luck charms or pregame traditions?

MB: I believe a good warm-up is crucial to playing well; I try to be as focused during our warm-up times as possible.  Additionally, I make sure I'm hydrated and my nutrition is in check in the days leading up to our game.  As far as pregame rituals, I am a big fan of listening to music because it puts me in the zone.

SG: For all Wittenberg Volleyball fans reading, what is your favorite cheer to hear from the stands during a game?

MB: The Tiger Up Witt Tiger Up cheer is always good to hear- It's an oldie but a goodie.
