Nine Tigers named All-Great Lakes Region by USTFCCCA

SPRINGFIELD — Nine Wittenberg student-athletes earned NCAA Division III All-Great Lakes Region honors in men's and women's indoor track and field from the USTFCCA, the organization announced Tuesday.

The top five individuals in each event from each region on the year-end TFRRS Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top three relay teams.

Wittenberg was honored with nine All-Region accolades in women's indoor track and field.

Junior Meghan Frazier (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) highlighted the list of honorees, earning All-Region status in the 60 meters, 400 meters and 4x400 relay.

She tied for third in the region in the 60 with a time of 7.74 seconds, ranked fourth in the 400 with a time of 56.61 seconds and was a member of the 4x400 relay team that ranked third in the region with a time of 3:58.10.

Frazier, who won North Coast Athletic Conference titles in the 60, 200 and 4x400 meters this season, was named the NCAC Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year and qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in the 400 meters with a time of 56.61 seconds.

Sophomores Abby Danne (Johnstown, Ohio/Big Walnut) and Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) and junior Victoria Pipinich (Fort Worth, Texas/All Saints Episcopal) joined Frazier on the NCAC champion and All-Region 4x400 relay team.

Juniors Julissa Williams (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain) and Taylor Weiss (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) earned All-Region status in the high jump.

Both Williams and Weiss qualified for the NCAA Championships in the high jump after posting some impressive marks at the NCAC Championships and Mount Union Final Qualifier, respectively. Williams broke a 41-year-old school record in the event with a mark of 1.70 meters, and Weiss later posted a mark of 1.69 meters. They rank first and second, respectively, in the Great Lakes Region.

Sophomore Ziciah Gibson (Cambridge, Ohio/Cambridge) earned All-Region honors in the pentathlon. She posted a score of 2,791 at the NCAC Championships, ranking her fifth in the region.

In men's indoor track and field, sophomores Grayson Ring (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) and Jeremy Watson (Sugar Grove, Ohio/Berne Union) earned All-Great Lakes Region status in the high jump and pole vault respectively.

Ring, the NCAC champion in the high jump, ranks fifth in the region with a season-best mark of 2.01 meters set at the Wooster Invitational.

Watson, who placed second in the pole vault at the NCAC Championships, set a season-best mark of 4.60 meters in the event at the Wittenberg Invitational and ranks fifth in the region.
