Men's Indoor Track and Field sits in second place after Day 1 of NCAC Championships

GAMBIER — The Wittenberg men's indoor track and field team sits in second place of eight teams after Day 1 of the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at Kenyon College on Friday.

The Basics

  • The top three finishers in each event, including relays, earn All-NCAC honors, and the top eight finishers score team points.
  • Denison leads the team standings with 37 points. Wittenberg is second with 34 points, and Wabash is third with 32 points.
  • Wittenberg entered Friday's portion of the competition with nine points following last weekend's heptathlon.

Wittenberg Highlights

  • The Tigers finished the day with one All-Conference finish.
  • Junior Conor Kolka (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) earned second place for All-NCAC honors in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:01.45. He is now a three-time All-Conference honoree in the event after finishing third in 2022 and second in 2023.
  • Freshman Lukas Rieben (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont) and sophomore Lucas Eisele (West Carrollton, Ohio/West Carrollton) joined Kolka in earning points in the the 5,000. Rieben ran a time of 15:27.87 for fifth, and Eisele was sixth in 15:40.57.
  • Freshmen Max Martindale (Mason, Ohio/Lakota West) and Jayden McKinister (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) earned points for the Tigers in shot put. Martindale finished fourth with a throw 14.91 meters, and McKinister was fifth with a mark of 14.85 meters.
  • The distance medley relay team of junior Peter Caine (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln), freshman Ethan Davis (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Houston), sophomore Mason Duncan (Cardington, Ohio/Highland) and junior Adam Arndt (Connersville, Ind./Connersville) placed eighth in a time of 10:47.04.
