Tigers Split Dual Meet

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg was back on their home track for a match-up with the Big Red of Denison. Wittenberg fell short on the men's side with a score of 60 compared to the Big Red's 81 points but the women were able to take down Denison with a close 71-63 score. During the meet Wittenberg was able to celebrate their graduating seniors which included Austyn Albanese, Caleb Austin, Miles Caine, Zach Guyer, Erika Bournival, Ryelee Clary, Alexis Johnson, and Courtney Swihart.

The Women: Courtney Swihart got things started for the Tigers with a second-place finish in the women's weight throw after throwing for 13.37m. Picking up another second-place finish for Wittenberg was Leah Vogt in the shot put with a distance of 11.20m. Stevie Plikerd brought Wittenberg their first top finish of the day in the long jump with a distance of 5.42m. Plikerd later picked up a second place in the women's triple jump with a 10.73m distance while Alexis Johnson finished in first with a distance of 10.86m. Sophomore, Hannah Schartz made her debut in the high jump and came out with a first place finish with a height of 1.65m while Johnson came right behind at 1.57m.

Tiffany Moss picked up another second-place finish for the Tigers in the 60-meter hurdles with a 10.07 finishing time. Alana Papocchia grabbed her first top finish of the season in the 400-meter dash with a 1:08.44 finish. Johnson came back in the 60-meter dash with a first-place finish and 7.91, with Plikerd right behind in second with a time of 8.11. The Tigers took over the women's 800-meter run with the top three spots going to Alexis Gray, Sydney Khosla, and Lauren Welker. Maxine Wishman and Seraye Bray kept the winning streak going one and two in the 200-meter dash to give the Tigers eight points. The women rounded out their success with a first-place finish from Wishman, Khosla, Welker, and Gray in the women's 1600 relay.

The Men: Zach Guyer competed in the pentathlon for the Tigers and picked up a first-place finish with 3360. Guyer took home first in the 60-meter hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump, and a third place in the 1000-meter run. Greg Shehee picked up a second-place finish for Wittenberg in the weight throw after throwing for a distance of 12.94m while Isreal Anis finished second in the shot put and distance of 11.27m. Vincent Roper finished the field events with a first-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.83m.

Garrin Bachinski made it into the 60-meter hurdles finals and placed second with a time of 8.89. Bachinski came back in the 400-meter dash and took home first with a finishing time of 53.13. Matt Rogers picked up three points and a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.19. Wittenberg picked up two more top finishes from Deven Ramsey and Ian McCandlish in the men's 800-meter. Ezekiel Bennett grabbed another second-place finish for the Tigers in the 200-meter with a time of 22.55. Ryan Zimmerman helped Wittenberg in the 3000-meter with a time of 9:00.17 and third place finish. Wittenberg ended the night with a first-place finish in the 1600 relay from Austyn Albanese, Bennett, McCandlish, and Ramsey.
