Springfield, Ohio – Wittenberg University track and field student-athletes Justin Fisher (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll), Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales), Frankie Bowsher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), Becah Delp (York, Pa./Eastern York), Alaina Longshore (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin Heights), Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut), and Samantha Mitchell (Solon, Ohio/Solon) have all earned Indoor All-Great Lakes Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The seven Tigers combined for a total of nine all-region awards, with Medlock accounting for three of them by herself. To qualify for all-region honors, a student-athlete must either be ranked in the top-five of an individual event in the region or be part of a top-three relay team.

Medlock earned all-region in the 60-meter and 200-meter events, and she also was a member of the Tigers’ 4x400-meter relay. Bowsher, Longshore and Mitchell joined Medlock on the 4x400-meter relay, while Delp gained her spot in the pentathlon, Fisher in the triple jump and Melsop in the long jump.

“These young men and women have been working extremely hard since the fall, and I am pleased to know that they are being recognized for it,” said Wittenberg Track and Field Head Coach Paris Hilliard. “I’m happy that all of their hard work is paying off because they deserve it. Hopefully the momentum from a great indoor season will catapult us into an even better outdoor season.”

Medlock, a senior, is making her second straight national appearance in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships and will again compete in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash. She also competed in the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 200-meter dash.

Medlock punched her ticket to the national meet at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Indoor Championships, where she was named Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year award for a second straight year. Medlock broke the school record in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the meet, and her time of 7.73 in the 60-meter dash also broke her own NCAC meet record.

In addition, Medlock ran the anchor leg of two all-conference relays as the Tigers finished first in both the 4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relay races. The four indoor All-NCAC finishes ran Medlock’s career total to 10, in addition to 11 outdoor All-NCAC awards in her first three collegiate seasons. Medlock also earned NCAC Outdoor Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year at the 2015 league championship meet.

Bowsher, Longshore and Mitchell also gained all-conference awards in the 4x400-meter relay, while Delp was an All-NCAC selection in the pentathlon. On the men’s side, Fisher and Melsop were national qualifiers in 2015 who both earned All-NCAC awards again at the indoor championships in 2016.
