Tigers Cap Busy Weekend With Solid Finish At All-Ohio Indoor Championships

DELAWARE/WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Wittenberg track & field turned in a solid weekend with an appearance at the unscored Ohio Wesleyan University Open on Friday before both the men and women finished 12th at the Division III All-Ohio Championships hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday.

At the OWU Open, the Tiger headlines included sophomore Maggie McIlvain's (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) 3000-meter run victory, sophomore Logan Jackson's (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) fourth-place weight throw, and freshman Charles Watson's (Star, Idaho/Eagle) second-place showing in the 400-meter run.

At the All-Ohio Championships, senior Anna Henry (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) provided a spark with a personal record of 18:36 in the 5000-meter run, good for fourth place. Freshman Shelby Kaho (Sugar Grove, Ohio/Berne Union) continued her strong season with a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles on a time of 9.29 seconds.

On the men's side of the All-Ohio meet, sophomore Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) marched up the ranks all the way to fifth among NCAA Division III runners with his winning 6.90 60-meter dash time.

The men's distance medley relay team took fourth in the meet, thanks to strong legs from senior Kyler Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), sophomore Chris Frierson (Cedar Hill, Texas/DeSoto), senior Ryan Hagen (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) and senior Jarrett Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington).
