TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Wittenberg Tigers didn't exactly have a large contingent on hand for an indoor meet at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, but the student-athletes on hand certainly made a good impression.

The Tiger women placed third in the five-team event, thanks in large part to the exploits of junior Nicole Bailey (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day), who won three events. The Tiger men placed fourth in the strong field, led by first-place finishes turned in by senior Andy Karcher (Oceola, Ohio/Bucyrus Wynford), sophomore Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North) and sophomore Erik Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Country Day).

Bailey took the top spot in the 55 meters, the long jump and the triple jump, and she added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters. Also scoring for the women were sophomore Katie Shoemaker (Arcanum, Ohio/Franklin Monroe) with a second in the 400 meters and a third in the 200 meters and junior Allison Walker (Columbus, Ohio/Academy) with a fifth in the shot put and second in the weight throw. Her mark of 40-10.5 in the weight throw broke a four-year-old school record.

On the men's side, Karcher was the top finisher in the weight throw, while Savage topped the field in the 1-mile run and Larkin paced the competition in the triple jump. Larkin also placed third in the long jump, followed closely in each event by senior Glenn Taylor (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) with a second in the triple jump and a fourth in the long jump.
