Tigers Finish Strong At University Of Findlay Dual Meet

Kristen Mumper

The Wittenberg University men's and women's indoor track and field teams put together another strong weekend of individual performances at a pair of meets hosted by the University of Findlay. The Tigers competed in an open competition on Friday and then braved the nasty weather conditions on Saturday to go against a strong field in the All-Ohio Championships.

Junior Kristen Mumper (Cincinnati, Ohio/Purcell Marian) continued her assault on the Wittenberg record books, breaking her own mark in the triple jump and joining freshman Anna Finkelstein (Whitehall, Mich./Reeths-Puffer), sophomore Marissa Davoll (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) and junior Kelly Zilli (Dayton, Ohio/Kettering Alter) in establishing a new standard in the 4x400-meter relay.

Along with those outstanding efforts, junior Nikki Norcia (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) turned in a personal-best time in the 600 meter race and freshman Tracy Butler (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) finished with a personal-best time in the mile for the women.

On the men's side, the spotlight shone brightest upon junior Skip Ivery (Columbus, Ohio/Groveport-Madison), who remained unbeaten in the high hurdles this season despite competing against several NCAA Division I and II teams on Saturday. Ivery won the 60-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 8.28 seconds. He was named NCAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week for his performance.

Also of note, junior Joel Drake (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) and Thomas Dillingham (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) had personal bests in the shot put.
