OBERLIN, Ohio – For the second time in a week, the Wittenberg men's tennis team measured itself against one of the top teams in the nation. The result against 13th-ranked Case Western Reserve was a 9-0 defeat, mirroring the finish against 14th-ranked Washington University three days earlier.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 13-4 overall, while Case Western, ranked No. 2 in the Great Lakes Region, improved to 16-5. The match was moved to John W. Heisman Field House at Oberlin College due to inclement weather in Northeast Ohio.

Case Western opened with a sweep of the doubles matches, with the Tiger tandem of freshman Stas Pakhomov (Richmond, British Columbia/Sir Winston Churchill) and junior Tyler Strong (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manual) making the best showing at No. 2, losing 8-6.

In the singles competition, sophomore Ian Streicker (South Lebanon, Ohio/Loveland) and Pakhomov both pushed their opponents at No. 1 and 2, respectively, to a 6-4 set score.
