Tigers Cruise Past Capital, 9-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio — In a match-up of Central Ohio's two Lutheran-affiliated institutions of higher learning, the Wittenberg men's tennis got the best of host Capital by a 9-0 score. The win moved the Tigers to 12-5 on the season.

Wittenberg started out with a sweep of the doubles competition, with four of those players moving on to win singles matches. Freshman Ian Streicker (South Lebanon, Ohio/Loveland) was a winner at No. 2 doubles and added a 6-0, 6-0 whitewashing at No. 1 singles. Freshman Alexey Topolyanskiy (Moscow, Russia)was a 6-2, 6-0 singles victor at No. 2 after pairing with Streicker in doubles.

Freshman Sasha Topolyanskiy (Moscow, Russia) won at No. 3 singles after teaming with junior Sergio Fishkin (Minsk, Belarus) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.

Rounding things out, sophomore Tyler Strong (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual)won at No. 5 singles and sophomore Jonathan Mueller (Bexley, Ohio/Hartley)won at No. 6 singles. The tandem of sophomore Joe Marra (Great Falls, Mont./Great Falls) and junior Stuart Zorn (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) were winners at No. 3 doubles.
