SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers opened the second half of their 2010-11 schedule with a solid showing in the Ohio Dominican Collegiate Doubles Invitational and a 7-0 loss to Wright State University. All of the matches over the two-day span were played at Springfield Racquet Club.
The loss to Wright State, an NCAA Division I scholarship program, was the Tigers' first dual match since October and dropped Wittenberg to 3-1 on the 2010-11 season.
The highlight of the Ohio Dominican competition, which included five scholarship programs and the Tigers, was supplied by the tandem of junior Shaun Byrnes (Westlake, Ohio/St. Edward) and sophomore Nick Ludwig (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy). They won a pair of matches to capture first place in the B-flight back draw, defeating a pair of Cedarville University doubles teams along the way.
The Tigers return to action on Feb. 27 against Findlay.
