Tigers Pick Up Key NCAC Win At Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Wittenberg men's tennis team earned a key North Coast Athletic Conference West Division victory Tuesday night with a 6-3 win over Ohio Wesleyan. The Tigers move to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in NCAC West action. 

Wittenberg started things off with a sweep of the doubles portion of the match at Gordon Field House, as sophomoreStephane Antwi (Rosedale, NY/McClancy Memorial) and freshman Sergio Fishkin (Minsk, Belarus) teamed up for a decisive 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

Junior Bobby Fisher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) and senior Craig Lods (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) won in the second spot while junior Andy Lamb (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) and senior Rob Lehner (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) won a tiebreaker to take the third.

The doubles wins proved decisive as the Tigers and Bishops split in singles competition. Antwi and Fishkin took first and second singles respectively, and Lehner followed up with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the fifth spot.

The Tigers take a nine-day layoff before hosting Ohio Northern on Thursday, April 15 at 4 p.m. on the courts at the David & Georgianna Albright Tennis Complex.
