Ohio Dominican Too Much For Tigers In Final Home Match

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg men's tennis team wrapped up their 2009-10 regular season schedule in a non-conference match with NAIA institution Ohio Dominican, but ended up on the wrong end of a 6-3 score. The men fall to 10-8 overall.

The Tigers used the match to tune up before the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament begins on Friday, April 30, at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. The tournament will continue on Saturday, May 1, and determine the NCAC's champion.

Against the Panthers, Wittenberg took two singles matches and one doubles match. Junior Andy Lamb (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) won at No. 6 singles thanks to a close 11-9 tiebreaker after winning the first set 6-1 and dropping the second 5-7. He also picked up a victory in No. 3 doubles, paired with junior Bobby Fisher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), where they took an 8-6 decision.

Freshman Sergio Fishkin (Minsk, Belarus) took the Tigers' other point at No. 2 singles in a 7-5, 6-2 win.
