HILTON HEAD, SC — The Wittenberg Tigers neared the finish line of a busy Spring Break trip to the Carolinas with a pair of 7-2 victories over Defiance and Misericordia.

The wins moved the Tigers to 6-3 overall, heading into Saturday's scheduled contest at Belmont Abbey in Charlotte, NC. Wittenberg wrapped up their stay in Hilton Head with three wins in four outings.

Against Defiance, the Tigers started slowly, losing tight decisions at the No. 1 and 2 doubles positions. But Wittenberg rallied for a swingles sweep, dropping just one set along the way. However, junior Andy Lamb (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) rallied for a 17-15 tiebreaker win at No. 5 to go along with his win at No. 3 doubles with freshman Stuart Zorn (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming).

Against Misericordia, Lamb put the finishing touches on his unbeaten day with a win at No. 4 singles, part of another singles sweep for the Tigers. Wittenberg's lone doubles win came courtesy of senior Craig Lods (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe)and freshman Josh Fridley (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Pickerington Central) at the No. 3 position. It was Fridley's first collegiate doubles win.
