Tigers Stumble Against OAC Power Ohio Northern

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers struggled in the doubles competition and were unable to bounce back, losing a 6-3 decision to Ohio Athletic Conference powerhouse Ohio Northern.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 9-7 overall, heading into a busy weekend that includes a pair of home matches on Saturday, April 17. The Tigers take one North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) West Division rival Wabash at 9 a.m. and Thomas More in a non-conference match at 4:30 p.m. Ohio Northern improved to 9-2 in 2010 with the win.

With their collective backs against the wall after the doubles sweep, Wittenberg rallied for wins at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Sophomore Stephane Antwi ()and senior Craig Lods (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) were straight-set winners at No. 1 and No. 4, while senior Rob Lehner (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) was pushed to three sets before pulling out the win.

On the other singles courts, however, the Tigers were unsuccessful, including junior Bobby Fisher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) at the No. 3 spot. He lost a hard-fought three-set match.
