Tigers Fall in Conference Opener to Denison

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - With the conference slate now officially under way, the Tigers hoped to carry their hot early spring into NCAC play. In their way, however, was conference rival Denison, ranked No. 27 in the country, which put to rest early any thought of a Tiger upset with straight-set victories in a 9-0 Wittenberg loss.

In the doubles forum, the Tigers pairing of Stephane Antwi (Rosedale, NY/Monsignor McClancy Memorial) and Craig Lods (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) proved to be formidable competition at the second flight, eventually falling 8-5.

Senior Brad Seymour (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) started out well in his singles match before dropping the first flight, 7-5, 6-1.

The loss drops the Tigers to 9-4 and 0-1 in the NCAC, but a quick turnaround will have the Tigers in action three times this weekend, including a meeting with another conference foe. On Saturday, April 4, the Tigers visit Wabash for a 9 a.m. meeting with the Little Giants, before taking on Calvin later in the day at 2 p.m.
