Wittenberg Completes Perfect Southern Swing With Win Over Marian

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Faced with a tight match against Marian after doubles competition, the Tiger men made sure that their winning streak would not be snapped on the final day of their trip to Hilton Head, S.C. Rallying to win five of the six singles pairings and the match, 7-2, the Tigers completed a 6-0 trip in style while ballooning in confidence, heading into the middle stretch of the spring.

In spite of some difficulty in the doubles, the Tigers responded to win a number of tight singles matches, three of which required the tiebreaker. Among the strong performances, freshman Stephane Antwi (Rosedale, NY/Monsignor McClancy Memorial) won the third flight in a three-set affair, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5).

Sophomore Andy Lamb (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) also won in a tiebreak in the fourth level match, topping his Knight opponent 6-1, 1-6, 1-0 (10-2). Senior Andrew Young (Mansfield, Ohio/Senior) showed his composure with a win in the sixth flight, battling from a set down to win 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-3).

Expanding on their success, Wittenberg now turns its eyes on the return to the Buckeye State and conference play. However, before the NCAC slate kicks off, the Tigers first meet up with Walsh University on Friday, March 20 at 1 p.m. in search of win number ten.
