FINDLAY, Ohio - Wittenberg's men's tennis team opened the lid on the 2009 spring season with a 6-3 loss at the hands of the University of Findlay. A pair of singles wins for the Tigers could not overcome their early defecit as the host Oilers pulled out victories in the top four singles flights - two in three sets.

To kick off the afternoon, the Tigers found their lone doubles win come from the junior-freshman duo of Craig Lods (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) and Stephane Antwi (Rosedale, NY/Monsignor McClancy Memorial), who dispatched their opponents 8-1 in the third flight.

At the singles level, the Tigers found points coming from sophomore Andy Lamb (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton), who claimed the No. 5 singles match with a 6-1, 6-2 win. Lods also took a singles win at the sixth flight, winning in straight sets by a 6-1, 6-2 mark as well. The final result could very well have gone the Tigers' way, as the number three and four flight matches required a third set to decide a winner.

The Tigers now prepare for their spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C., where they will face six opponents in as many days. The trip kicks off on Sunday, March 8, when the Red and White face Defiance at 12 p.m.
