Wittenberg Drops Home Matches To Wabash And Cedarville

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tiger men's tennis team logged some long hours, but going overtime didn't secure them a win against either Wabash or Cedarville.

The losses dropped Wittenberg to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), while Wabash improved to 8-9 overall and 4-2 in the conference and Cedarville moved to 3-2 overall.

Against Wabash, the Tigers' only two wins came in incomplete matches as sophomore Craig Lods (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) won at No. 4 singles when his opponent retired and junior Brad Seymour (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) and freshman Robert Fisher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) were victors at No. 1 doubles for the same reason.

The match against the Little Giants was played indoors at Springfield Racquet Club due to fog and cold temperatures in the morning. Play resumed at Wittenberg's Georgiana Albright Tennis Complex with a match between Wabash and Cedarville that was also won by the Little Giants, 6-3.

The final event of the day was a dual between neighborhood rivals Wittenberg and Cedarville, which the visiting Yellow Jackets captured by a 6-3 count. Seymour was a double-winner in this one, taking a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 1 singles and teaming with Fisher to claim a 9-8 victory at No. 1 doubles. Lods paired with sophomore Rob Lehner (Gahanna, Ohio/DeSales) to earn an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
