Tigers Finish Seventh In NCAC Tournament

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on the 2007-08 season with a seventh-place finish in the 2008 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament.

After losing to No. 1 seed Kenyon, 5-0, on Saturday and No. 5 seed Oberlin, 5-2, on Sunday, the Tigers bounced back to cap the season on a positive note with a 5-1 win over Ohio Wesleyan. The two teams had split matches during the regular season, with the Tigers winning the match that mattered most to improve to 5-11 overall.

Freshman Andy Lamb (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) picked up the Tigers' lone singles win at the No. 6 position against Oberlin, while sophomores Rob Lehner (Gahanna, Ohio/DeSales) and Craig Lods (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) were winners at No. 2 doubles.

Lamb added a win at No. 6 singles against OWU as well, to go along with a win at No. 3 doubles with sophomore Greg Harvey (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana). Lods and Lehner added a win at No. 2 doubles and then junior Brad Seymour (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) teamed with freshman Robert Fisher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln)rounded things out with a win at No. 1 doubles for the all-important sweep.

Seymour clinched the win with a straight sets victory at No. 1 singles.
