Wittenberg men's and women's tennis put the wraps on the fall season by hosting the Wilson/ITA Men's Tennis Central Region Championship.

In the singles competition, junior No. 1 player Shane Hutton (Charleston, W.Va./Catholic) won the team's lone first-round match. In the consolation, senior Ben Burkam (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) won one match and sophomore John Shields (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) claimed a pair to advance farther than any other Tiger player.

In doubles, the best Wittenberg story was a first-round upset of the No. 3 seed by the team of junior Matt Treblas (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) and junior Steve Wilson (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee). They fell in the second round.

The Tigers will be back in competition next spring, starting with a Spring Break trip in mid-March. A full spring season schedule will be online soon.
