Successful Season Wrap-up for the Tigers

Gambier, OH -- The Wittenberg Swim and Dive team closed out their season at the Fast Chance Invitational at Kenyon College on Saturday. The Tigers competed in seven different events with 10 different athletes. Sophomore Mackenzie Schuld had a career record time for the 200 yard free with a time of 1:59.35. Schuld, senior Sophia Spriggs and junior Michelle Murray all competed in the 50 yard free with Schuld clocking 26.66 and Murray and Spriggs finishing within one tenth of a second from each other, Murray at 29.05 and Spriggs at 29.09. Sophomore Zach Parkman set new personal records in the 200 yard IM and the 400 yard IM with times of 1:59.87 and 4:16.53. 

Additional Tiger Victories include:

  • The 200 yard free medley included Quaid O'BrienParker RoachCody Schimmel and Parkman with a time of 1:35.36
  • Senior Anthony Petruzzi closed his career in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.87
  • Roach set a new career high in the 500 yard free clocking 5:09.40
  • Junior Ryan Heighton competed in the 200 yard free dropping 0.2 seconds from his previous time, now at 2:04.04

Senior Emma Hellmann competed in the 1 meter dive to get ready for regionals, collecting 402.45 points. Hellmann will be traveling to Calvin University on Friday and Saturday, February 25 and 26 to compete in the 1 meter and 3 meter dives.
