Majority of Tigers Leave with New Personal Records

Wooster, OH -- The Wittenberg Swim and Dive team traveled to the College of Wooster for the Wooster Invitational from Thursday through Saturday. Both teams finished the event placing sixth, the men scoring 377 points and the women collecting 295.5 points. Setting a Wooster pool record and continuing her Wittenberg record-breaking streak, Emma Hellmann scored a 453.05 on the 1-meter dive. She also closed the 3-meter dive with a score of 465.50. On the men's side, Zach Parkman came in fourth in the 200-yard butterfly finals while dropping five seconds from his personal record setting it to 1:56.09. Roughly three-fourths of the team set new personal records, and almost everyone bettered those times in the finals. The Tigers dominated their mid-distance times, dropping an average of 6 seconds from their personal records.

Milestones and victories include:

  • Dropping 12 seconds from her record, Mackenzie Schuld hit a new personal best of 5:24.54 in the 500-yard freestyle. Schuld also came in second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:53.01
  • In the 500-yard free, Abby Dunasky crushes her personal best of 5:54.29, setting her new record to 5:38.87. She also dropped 17 seconds from her 400-yard IM record making it 5:15.80
  • Anthony Petruzzi sets his new personal best of 2:04.69 in the 200-yard IM dropping 10 seconds. Petruzzi picked up major time in his 200-yard breaststroke, putting his new personal record at 2:18.23
  • Cutting off a total of eight seconds, Michelle Murray dropped her 200-yard backstroke time to 2:30.42 seconds
  • Cody Schimmel took off six seconds in prelims and two seconds in the final of his 200-yard backstroke making his time 2:16.54
  • Cutting his time by seven seconds, Parker Roach set his new 200-yard breaststroke record to 2:25.5
