Tigers Open 2012-13 Season At Kenyon Relays

GAMBIER, Ohio – The 2012-13 Wittenberg swimming & diving season is officially underway, and the Tigers kicked it off with a solid outing at the Kenyon Relays and Denison Diving Invitational, scoring a third-place finish for the women and a fourth-place finish for the men.

There were impressive performances all over the final results, but two that stood out were the women's 200 breaststroke relay and the men's one-meter diving relay, both of which finished third and represented the teams' highest finishes.

The women's 200 breaststroke team of freshman Margaret White (Westfield, Ind./Westfield), senior Jane Tsivitse (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming), junior Claire Kozlowski (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) and junior Molly Gustafson (Hartford, Conn./Conard) finished in a time of 2:11.55, led by an exceptional performance by Gustafson. Her anchor leg of 29.79 was not only the best leg for the team, but in the entire event.

The men's one-meter diving duo of sophomore Eric Roberts (Willits, Calif./Willits) and freshman Kevin Duhl (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) put up a final score of 389.5 to earn third place, led by Roberts' individual 201.

Other standout performances for the women included the sixth-place 200 medley relay squad of junior Sarah Wilson (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe), Gustafson, Tsivitse and senior Ward McNulty (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier), the sixth-place 200 backstroke team of junior Courtney Carani (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier), freshman Carly Jones (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel), Tsivitse and Wilson, and the sixth-place freestyle relay from Wilson, freshman Dani Lacy (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate School), Tsivitse and McNulty.

On the men's side, the 500 crescendo relay crew made up of freshman Chase Honeycutt (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany), sophomore Jared Crum (Galveston, Ind./Lewis Cass), senior J.B. Easley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills) and sophomore A.J. Burt (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) finished fifth. Other top performances included the seventh-place finishes of the 200 backstroke relay consisting of sophomore James Dumstorf (Louisville, Ky/St. Xavier), Crum, senior Andrew Koukis (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) and freshman Stephen Stuthers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic),the 1500 freestyle relay composed of Burt, Stuthers and sophomore Ed Young (Shaker Heights, Ohio/University School), and the 400 individual medley relay team of Dumstorf, Stuthers, senior Brendan Eggers (Rye, N.Y./Rye) and Burt.

The Tigers return to the lanes in a Saturday, Oct. 27, dual meet at the College of Wooster, slated for 1 p.m.
