Tigers Wrap Up Home Slate With A Pair Of Victories

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - A pair of home dual meet victories for the Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams sent the seniors off in style as the Tigers topped Centre College 136-101 and 135-94, respectively. A number of seniors made an impact in the water in their final meet at the HPER Center Natatorium.

In the men's competition, Andy Bates (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central filled a busy evening with strong performances in the men's 200 medley relay as well as a runner-up spot in the 200 back. Fellow senior Chris Banas (Huntington Woods, Mich./ Detroit Central Catholic) took fourth place finishes in both the distance events. The team's third senior, Robby McNeese (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin), helped a pair of Tiger relays to touch in third place, while senior diver Alex Potapenko (Brecksville, Ohio/Broadview Heights) took second place points in the 3-meter diving event.

Junior Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) had another tremendous evening, taking top spot in three events.

On the women's side, a trio of seniors competed in their last home meet, highlighted by Kelly Eggers (Rye, N.Y./Rye), who helped the 200 medley relay to a third-place finish. Senior Allison Reed (Duluth, Ga./Duluth) swam on a pair of Tiger relay teams that took fifth spots in each race, while diver Blaire Butler (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) won the 3-meter diving crown.

The dual meet victories push the Tiger records to 7-3 on the men's side and 7-2 for the women. The final dual meet of the season comes up at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 at No. 1 ranked Kenyon College. The Tigers will then head into the championship preparations for the North Coast Athletic Conference meet, which runs from Feb. 12-14.
