Wittenberg Men And Women Clench Victories At Hiram

HIRAM, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tiger swimming and diving teams rolled to big wins Saturday against Hiram, the men winning by a score of 110-95 and the women finishing 133-107.

For the men, sophomore Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Senior) had a big day, finishing first in the 100-meter backstroke and swimming a leg in each of the winning 200-meter freestyle and medley relays. Joining him in the winner's circle was sophomore Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood), winning the 200- and 400-meter freestyle and swimming a leg in the 200-meter medley relay, and freshman Chris Culkin (Novi, Mich./Northville), finishing first in the 800-meter freestyle.

On the women's side, senior Kaitlin Clark (Wakeman, Ohio/Firelands) won the 400- and 800-meter freestyles, and swam third in the winning 200-meter freestyle relay. Sophomore Adeline Brym (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) also took home her share of first-place titles, touching first in the 200-meter freestyle, 100-meter backstroke, and swimming the lead lap in the winning 200-meter medley relay. Sophomore Kristin Elber (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) swam anchor in the 200-meter freestyle relay, adding wins in the 50- and 100-meter freestyles to complete the day. Freshman diver Megan Shubitowski (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) capped off the day with wins in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions.

The teams next travel to Case Western Reserve on Jan. 26, 2008, for a 1 p.m. meet.
