Tigers Fall To the Lords

Springfield, OH- The Tigers stepped out on Edwards-Maurer Field for the sixth time this season as they faced the Lords of Kenyon College. In the second NCAC match-up of the season and three game winning streak, Wittenberg looked to improve their record to 7-2-2 against a tough Kenyon line-up. The Tigers have faced Keyon for a total of 54 times in program history with the Red & Whites last win against the Lords being in 2006. Tonight's match-up left the Tigers with a 6-3-2 record after falling in the second half 2-0.

Wittenberg found themselves deadlocked at 0-0 in the first half, going back-and-forth with Kenyon. The Tigers were able to get through the Lords defense for three shots, all on goal, but were unable to connect with the back of the net. In goal for Wittenberg was Jason Bowen, who faced three shots in the first half all of which were saved. Bowen faced four more shots in the second half with a .500 save percentage for a total of seven shots on goal.

NCAC Stats Leaders- Eli Esterline is in the top five for the NCAC in goals on the season, sitting at second with 6 goals. Logan Evans is just behind Esterline for goals in sixth with five goals on the season. Kees Ciric lands in the top ten for assists in the NCAC at seventh with three assists this season, tied with Eli Esterline and Logan Evans. Eli Esterline and Logan Evans also land in the top ten for points with Esterline tied at second with 15 and Evans tied at fifth with 13.

On the defensive end, Jason Bowen leads the NCAC in save percentage at .903 and 3 shutouts. Bowen also sits at number five in the conference for saves on the season with a total of 28.

NCAA Stats- Wittenberg sits at 41, tied with Lebanon Valley, for points on the season with 25 goals and 17 assists for a total of 67 points. The Tigers are tied at 29th in Division III for total goals with ten other schools. Jason Bowen is in a two-way tie at number eight for Division III in save percentage with his .903. Bowen is also tied at 41 for shutouts on the season with 3. (All NCAC statistics are based prior to tonight's match-up against Kenyon)
