Tigers Top Wooster For Fourth Straight Victory

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - On a day filled with black and gold on Wittenberg's campus, tensions are bound to rise. North Coast Athletic Conference men's soccer powerhouses Wooster and Wittenberg clashed on the pitch for one of the most physical, aggressive, and entertaining games of the season to date.

The Wittenberg/Wooster rivalry is as storied as it is heated, and Saturday was no different. Officials dished out three yellow cards, trying to tame a game rife with pure competitiveness, pulling out the cards twice on the Tigers and once on the Scots.

Matt Borland (Kettering, Ohio/Alter) had another banner day, scoring once and assisting the scoring opener for Shane Price (Minford, Ohio/Minford).

The Tiger defense was also hard at work, allowing only two shots on goal. On the offensive side, the Red & White worked the Wooster goaltending staff over, forcing a change at the half. Eight different players put shots on goal, combining for twelve total.

The win over the Fighting Scots is their second in the conference, putting them at a solid 2-0-0 in NCAC play, and moving them to 8-2-1 overall in 2007. The Tigers are making a bid at postseason conference play for the first time since 2005, and stand a full four wins ahead of their record at this time last year.
