Wittenberg Falls To Nationally Ranked Ohio Wesleyan

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers gave perennial powerhouse Ohio Wesleyan a good battle on Wednesday in a game delayed nearly an hour by lightning, eventually falling 14-7 after trailing just 5-3 at halftime.

The Tigers dropped to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with the defeat.

Once again, the only statistic in the final scorebook that appeared somewhat lopsided was the score. Wittenberg was only outshot 36-28 for the game, and freshman goaltender Andy Shively turned in a pretty solid game with 11 saves. However, after battling to a 5-3 deficit by halftime, the Tigers were undone in a third quarter in which they were outscored 6-1.

Wittenberg goals were scored by sophomore Matt Davis (3), sophomore Jay Shimko (2), sophomore Adam Morrison and sophomore Cory Griffiths. Morrison, the team's leading scorer (total points), finished with three assists.
