Men's Golf Ends Season At NCAA DIII Championships

Nicholasville, KY – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Golf team wrapped-up their 2022-23 season at the NCAA Division III Championships with a 13th place finish, compiling a four-round score of 1185 (+33).  Wittenberg put together rounds of 292-290-313-290 over the 72-hole competition.

Four Tigers' earned Golf Coaches Association of America PING All-Region honors, Matthew Mattioli, Evan DiSanto, J.F. Aber and Nicklaus Pidgeon.

Mattioli paced the Tigers throughout the tournament, carding rounds of 72-71-75-72, earning T21 finish with a score of 290 (+2). Mattioli carded six birdies over the final two rounds of action. Mattioli bounced back from his 75 (+3) in the third round, rolling in three birdies over his final nine-hole stretch. The sophomore, closed out his time at the championships with an even par round, with three birdies on the day.

DiSanto cracked the top 50 adding a T38 finish for Wittenberg, finishing with a final score of 295 (+7). After rolling in six birdies in the second round, coming in at one-under par with a 71. DiSanto climbed into the top 40 on the final day, carding four birdies, finishing one-under par for his second round of 71 on the week.

Aber closed out his DIII Championships with a final round of 71 (-1). Carding four birdies throughout his final round, Aber rolled in two birdies on the back nine before adding two more to his scorecard on the front. The Pennsylvania native earned a T51 finish with an 11-over par total on the week.

Pidgeon added a T64 finish for the Tigers, finishing with a score of 301 (+13). Pidgeon carded rounds of 73-73-79-76, claiming his first All-Region designation as a Tiger.

Will Birkholz put together rounds of 74-77-82-77 for his final trip to the DIII Championships.
