Tigers Take Fourth Place at Hershey Cup & Rhodes Spring Classic

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Golf team hit the road to take on some deep fields at some high-level events this past week.

Taking fourth-place at both The Hershey Cup from Hershey Country Club and the Rhodes Spring Classic from Mirimichi Golf Course.

Wittenberg carded a team score of 615 at the Hershey Cup with rounds of 309 and 306. J.F. Aber was back on familiar ground, back in his home state of Pennsylvania. Aber earned a second-place finish, with a 36-hole score of 148, posting rounds of 76 and 72. Evan DiSanto followed-up with his second consecutive top five finish. DiSanto carded back-to-back rounds of 76-76 for a two-day score of 152, earning a T-5 finish.

Nicklaus Pidgeon made his way into the top 30, carding rounds of 77 and 80. Pidgeon carded a 36-hole total of 157 for a T-28 finish. Matthew Mattioli improved from day one to day two, shaving two strokes, with rounds of 80 and 78. Mattioli finished at T-31 with a 36-hole score of 158. Jacob Yarbrough made his way inside the top 50, coming in at T-49. Yarbrough tallied a two-day score of 163.

Wittenberg added to their continued success from the Rhodes Spring Classic, with two Tigers earning top 15 finishes, three earning top 20 finishes and four of the five competitors finishing in the top 30.

Will Birkholz paced the Tiger line-up through the three rounds of competition. Birkholz tallied a 54-hole score of 222, earning an 11th place finish. Birkholz carded rounds of 72-73-77. William McDavid improved with each 18-holes of golf, posting rounds of 79-74-72, finishing with a 54-hole score of 225 for a T-12 finish. Joshua Wright cracked the top 20 with a three-round score of 229, posting scores of 78-77-74. Ryan Miller and Mark Sulek each secured a T-30 finish with 54-hole scores of 233. Miller tallied rounds of 74-75-84. Sulek finished his weekend with rounds of 75-77-81. Grant Klepitsch cracked the top 35 with a 54-hole score of 234, finishing with round of 78-75-81.
