Tigers Take Second At Kravetz Invitational

Rochester, NY – The No. 6 Wittenberg Men's Golf team traveled to upstate New York for the Kravetz Invitational. The Tigers posted an opening round score of 309 as a team from the Irondequoit Country Club. Wittenberg closed out the two-day 36-hole competition with a final score of 603 (+31), earning a second-place finish. The Tiger's would only trail tournament host, University of Rochester after carding a team score of 599 (+27).

Wittenberg continued to face off against tough competition, sitting in second-place after 18-holes of competition. The Tigers were sandwiched between the pair of University of Rochester teams amongst the field. The Tigers sat ahead of Hamilton College, McDaniel College, fellow NCAC foe Allegheny College. Along with besting St. Lawrence University and Middlebury College throughout the two days. of action.

Nicklaus Pidgeon made his way up the leaderboard, earning a T4 finish for the Tigers with a 36-hole score of 150 (+7). Pidgeon carded rounds of 76 and 74. Making his way into the line-up for the first time this spring, Evan DiSanto set the pace for the Tigers on day one, carding a round of 75 (+3) in a T3 position. DiSanto was the second of four top 10 finishers for the Tigers on the weekend, closing out with a final round of 76. DiSanto closed out the tournament on the heels of Pidgeon with a 36-hole score of 151 (+8), earning a seventh-place finish.

Matthew Mattioli and JF Aber finished back-to-back to round out the Wittenberg scoring effort. Mattioli closed out the weekend with T8 finish, carding rounds of 79 and 73 for two-day score of 152 (+9). Aber was able to shave 11 strokes from round one to two, posting an opening-round 82 before closing out the tournament with a 71. Aber jumped up 10 spots on the leader on day two, finishing in a T10 position with a 36-hole score of 153 (+10).

Wittenberg will return to competition from the Buckeye State, traveling to the Apple Valley Golf Course in Howard, Ohio to take on the field at the NCAC/OAC Clash In Columbus.
