Tigers Challenge Big Red In Weekend Dual

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg University men's golf team returned to action over the weekend, traveling to Granville for a tri-match with the Big Red and the Fighting Scots from the College of Wooster. The Tigers returned to Springfield Country Club on an overcast Sunday afternoon for a dual match with the Big Red. The Tigers secured a second-place finish on Saturday, finishing with a 309 (+25) at the Denison Golf Club. Host, Denison set the pace with a low score of 290 (+6), the College of Wooster ended the day with a 318 (+34). Will Birkholz posted the low score for Wittenberg on Saturday with an 18-hole round of 76 (+5). Christopher Dunne and William McDavid earned a T-7 finish, carding a final score of 77 (+6). Daniel Castleberry claimed a twelfth-place finish, posting a 79 (+8) through one round.

Wittenberg returned to their home course at Springfield Country Club on Sunday afternoon for a dual match with the Big Red. The field was led by Wittenberg's own Nick Pidgeon, carding a final score of 73 (+1) at the 6700-yard Par 72 course. Birkholz and McDavid earned a T-2 finish, posting a final score of 75 (+3) in the final round of the weekend. Castleberry and Dunne each contributed a (+7) 79 for a T-6 finish.
