Tigers Open 2021 Season With Two Wins Over Wabash

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg University men's golf team returned to action over the weekend, defeating the Wabash College Little Giants in two matches. The Tigers teed off their 2021 campaign from the Crawfordsville Country Club. As a team, Wittenberg tallied a 292 (+12) final score through 18 holes at the 6100-yard Par 70 track. Daniel Castleberry topped the field along with Tiger newcomer Nick Pidgeon, carding 72 (+2) final scores on the day. JF Aber made his presence known for the Tiger squad, earning a fourth-place finish in his first collegiate event, posting a 73 (+3). Evan DiSanto carded a 75 (+5) through 18 holes to open his 2021 season, coming off of NCAC Newcomer of the Year honors in 2019. Will Birkholz completed the Tiger line-up with a final score of 76 (+6) to start the season.

Wittenberg made the return trip to Springfield Country Club on Sunday afternoon, hosting their first home match in three years. On Sunday, Wittenberg picked up their second win of the season posting a 296 (+8) final-round score at the 6700-yard Par 72 Donald Ross constructed course. DiSanto paced the Tiger finishers on Sunday, taking a 73 (+1) into the clubhouse. Birkholz and Pidgeon finished back-to-back at t-2, tallying a final score of 74 (+2) on the day. Castleberry finished right on the heels of his Tiger teammates, posting a 75 (+3) through 18. Aber wasn't far behind carding a final round 76 (+4).

Wittenberg will return to action the weekend of March 27-28, traveling to Denison University on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers will return to Springfield Country Club on Sunday to host the Big Red.
