Springfield, Ohio — By virtue of his 14th-place finish in the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, Wittenberg University men's golf standout David Wetterich, class of 2014 from Cincinnati, Ohio, has earned second-team PING All-America honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Playing out of the No. 5 position in the national tournament, Wetterich picked the Tigers up when they needed him most, carding a team-best three-under-par 69 in the second round to help Wittenberg rally to make the 15-team cut by a single stroke. Wetterich added rounds of 78, 76 and 74 for a four-round total of 297 to become just the eighth player in program history to finish in the top 15 at an NCAA Tournament.

For the season, Wetterich led the deep, balanced Tigers with a stroke average of 75.4 in 17 rounds. He saved his best for last, earning first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honors with a third-place finish in the NCAC Championship Series before turning in the team's top finish at the NCAA Division III Tournament.

As a team, the Tigers finished seventh in the NCAA Division III Tournament, the ninth top-10 finish in program history. Wittenberg advanced to their 18th NCAA Division III Tournament and 19th overall national competition (including a 1974 berth in the NCAA College Division Tournament) after winning the NCAC Championship Series for the third straight year.
