Men's Basketball Falls To DePauw

Springfield, OH – Wittenberg men's basketball returned to Pam Evans Smith Arena, falling to the Tigers of DePauw University, 76-53 on the night. Jordan Welch led the Tiger scoring effort, scoring a career-high 18 points, knocking down 7 of 8 from the field, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, adding two rebounds to his total. 10 different Tigers made their way into the action on the afternoon, with six Wittenberg players contributing to the scoring effort off the bench.

Game Breakdown

Wittenberg fell behind early, as DePauw posted the first buckets of the game, the visiting would take a 41-16 lead into the break. Welch tallied five of his points at the break, knocking down 2 of 3 from the field. Daniel Asher added four points coming off of two-made buckets on three looks. Welch caught fire in the second half, knocking down all five of his attempts from the floor, including all three from deep range for 13 points, grabbing two rebounds, and picking up a steal. Asher added five more points to his total in the second half. Ridge Young knocked down 2 of 3, including one from beyond the arc, totaling five points in the second half.

Wittenberg converted on 17 of 44 attempts from the floor as a team on the day, including going 8 of 19 from beyond the arc.
