Tigers Fall in Conference Opener

Wooster, OH- Wittenberg hit the road for another heated match-up against the Fighting Scots of Wooster in the Tigers conference opener of the 2021 season. Despite a 1-0 loss tonight, the Red & White continue to lead a very close series 37-36-1 with a now 4-2 record against the Fighting Scots in the past three years.

Wooster got their lone goal of the game in the first quarter but junior goalkeeper, Emma Hurguy was able to block out twelve shots from the Fighting Scots. Wittenberg's offense was able to get nine shots off and draw two penalty corners, with attempts coming from Katie Webber, Allison Ormsby, Regan Mazzulli, Sofi Hess, Meredith Johnson, and Courtney Odom.

NCAC Stats Leaders- Allison Ormsby and Regan Mazzulli are tied at number four for goals in the conference with six each, while Katie Webber is tied at number ten with four goals on the season. Mazzulli, Ormsby, Webber, and Lilye Morrison are all in the top ten for assists in the conference, all tied at number three with two assists each.

Allison Ormsby and Regan Mazzulli sit at number three for points in the conference with a combined 28.  Katie Webber makes the top ten at number nine for points with ten on the season. On the defensive side, Shannon Csordos is tied at number five in the NCAC for defensive saves while Emma Hurguy currently ranks number four in NCAC goalie leaders for saves with 45 and number six for saves per game with 4.50 and a .776 save percentage per game (number seven for save percentage. The Tigers will return home for homecoming weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday. Wittenberg's next match-up on Edwards-Maurer Field is October 9th at 11AM against Ohio Wesleyan.
